Playing catch-up ...

We've finally posted some more pictures (Doubtful Sound and Sydney)!

The older batch is from our New Zealand trip in April. We spent a whole day kayaking on beautiful Doubtful Sound. Initially misidentified by colonial Europeans, the area's Sounds are all actually Fjords (or Fiords, hence the region's name: Fiordland.) It rained the entire day on the fjord, but if anything the moody grey tones added to the mystique of the place. The photography, however, suffered accordingly.

The newer set is from Sydney. We spent about 24 hours or so in Sydney on our way up to Cairns, one of the gateways to the Great Barrier Reef. And in response to Lana's comment: don't worry! We did find Nemo -- several Nemos, in fact -- but further north of Cairns, indeed. More on that later.

We'll continue to churn through old material while we work away for the next few months here in Canberra.

Oh, and you'll notice in the photo galleries that there's a new way to view the photos. It basically lets you see all the photos at once without thumbnails. This might be good for anyone with a low-bandwidth connection -- you can let all the photos load in the background while you do other things online. Or you might just prefer it this way. :)

We seem to have identical photos of the opera house... also, I didn't expect that the opera hosue tiles would be merely industrial strength bathroom tiles...

Cool photos! Fjordland looks spectacular... sorry I missed it. :(

Beauty pics, eh! Love the snow-crowned mountains. As for U-shaped valleys, this is a good attempt, but the Rockies have got U's so wide they'd swallow yer Fjord. :)

I like your photos of the opera house, I really don't know much about it and you've got it from several angles. It's funny, it seems to me it would have been uglier if he had managed to build his parabolic shapes the way he had originally envisioned.

Okay, cheers. Gotta find a job.

Strangely, I have almost identical photos, too - of the Bahai Lotus Temple in Delhi. Go search for a photo (I don't know how to put links into comments), and you'll see why.
